Cycling in Mallorca
Over the weekend of 21st, 22nd and 23rd of April 2017, a few friends and I went out to Port de Pollenca in Mallorca for a few days of cycling in the sunshine. The weather was amazing, the vibe was friendly and the cycling was just brilliant.
We all took a late evening flight into Palma from Gatwick and, after picking up a hire car at the airport were in our apartment in Port de Pollenca after a very straightforward drive of around 45mins.

Bike Hire in Port de Pollenca
Bike hire was very straightforward. There is absolutely no point in going to the hassle of taking your bike out there when the island is awash with more than adequate bike hire shops. We all hired our bikes from Pinerello Experience. This place was great with easy online booking which we did a few weeks in advance. Once there pick up was straightforward on the Friday morning where we went through a quick basic bike fit. All in, with no queue to speak of we were in and out in about an hour. The staff were all really friendly and helpful, and the bikes, as you'd expect were spot on.

The Routes out of Port de Pollenca
We did 3 great routes in all.
- Cap de Formentor on the first day - 81ks, 1500m ascent
- sa Calobra on the second day - 106ks, 2300m ascent
- Puig de Son Sastre on the third day - 76ks, 650m ascent
Accommodation in Port de Pollenca
The accommodation was spot on. It was a 3 double bed ground floor flat just one street back from the main beach and about a 15min walk into the main town. The fact it was ground floor was a bonus so we didn't have to worry about carrying the bikes up flights of steps. The communal pool was also great, especially for a quick post ride dip! There was a restaurant at the end of the street which served really good basic food which was perfect for us as we were knackered by the end of each day so didn't want to move far at all. We booked through AirBnB.
